Internet is a huge network of networks. It is such a communication channel that is used all over the world by all the communities from business, industry, education, trading and in-house users. Internet is beneficial for obtaining information, data on any topic from any place. it provides us variety of facilities for entertainment, learning, training, helping material like tutorials, videos of different trainings, voice communication/video communication, downloading of free software, admission and results from the institutes, e-papers and e-channels for latest news and updates about the world.

Business organizations are also using internet for transmission and receiving of their files, data, pictures of their products, machinery pictures, in textile sector design/color combinations and many more articles by using internet at very cheap rates. Internet is network or connection of many servers that are interconnected with each other by using different communication channels for the benefit of world. We connect our computer through our ISP (internet Service Provider) and achieve many facilities of communication, chatting, entertainment. This network of networks is not ruled, run or managed by any single company or country.

All the companies are using internet for the promotion of their products. All type of companies has their web site that has complete information about their products, price, features, functions and sale purchase procedure for their clients/customers. Universities/ colleges/ educational institutes/ research and training centers are using web based applications to facilitate students and they can complete their admission procedure online by using internet and web based applications within few minutes.

Many universities are providing online education. All the material such as assignments and assessment is completed by using web and internet. Banks are providing online banking and users from their home can view and make transactions like transfer of amount and print bank account statement and many more facilities. We can send and receive messages like e-mail very easily all over the world.

It is the easiest way to make our data available all the time anywhere. Many web servers provide us the facility to make our email accounts and can use their resources for our personal benefit. Some also provide the facility to upload our personal movies and pictures to view them online by using internet. We can reserve our seats in many airline companies.

We can purchase almost all the items online and make payment via credit card. Due to the advancement in communications, internet is widely used and its services are more improved and enhanced for the benefit of the internet user. We can play lots of games online or download for later use. There are also so many forums for different discussions.

Web site is location on the internet. It has unique address all over the world. There are so many companies providing web hosting and domain registration facilities. We can purchase domain name from these companies and our web site will be available all over the world by using internet. Domain name or web site name has 2 or 3 parts. www is the first part that is world wide web. It is optional. Then Microsoft is the name of the company and then third part dot com like .com,.edu,.org and etc.. Com means commercial and edu is used that this site is for educational purposes. 

To use internet first we have to connect our personal computer with our local ISP(Internet Service Provider). We have to pay some amount monthly to our ISP. These ISPs provides us communication facilities like chatting, browsing, emailing documents. These ISPs are connected with other ISPs and DNS Servers. These DNS(Domain Name Servers) servers have database of all the domains or websites in the world. These companies use heavy duty communication devices like routers, bridges, switches, amplifiers for the fastest communication. Some companies provide their resource such as space to create email account for emailing purposes, downloading software freely from the internet. By creating email account we reserve some space for our documents. it has user personal name first then domain name like student@university.edu.pk. Student is the name of the person and university is the emailing service providing company name. This email account is protected by the password or some special code to protect our data from invalid access.

There are several benefits of the internet but also it has some disasters. It consumes our lot of time and energy. If we are using internet just for entertainment and without any positive purpose then its prolong use causes wastage of time. Its negative use can district our data and other resources. Viruses are easily attack on our computer from the internet. Some hackers use different applications on internet to hack the data from various banks and service providing companies like universities, research centers.

Our country is currently suffering from shortage of electricity and almost every citizen of big cities in Pakistan is familiar with internet and if every person uses internet without any need then they are wasting electricity. Some students are fond of online games and they spent most of their time on internet. Some web sites provide the gambling games or online gambling that is also the wastage of time and amount in certain circumstances.

Some fake universities and investment companies are disguising the new users of internet. Some companies use destructive material against any religion, community, product because internet is not governed by any authority that can prevent such activities. It is also harmful for immature persons and students and they can be trapped by vulgar sites.

The use of internet had broadened the use of computers and computing devices, many app for mobile and software are available for desktop and laptop computing. The way and process of communication has rapidly changed over the years. Many companies has started their own business using mobile apps, providing services to their customers, facilitating them with best quality product without wasting any time and going outside the home. The process of buying and selling is passing through a paradigm shift, every business has influenced with the advanced feature of internet and the services available on the internet.

The top most companies using and providing services through internet are Google corporation with so many services, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Android, Apple and its products, Microsoft Encarta, Huawei and its communication devices and apps, Freelancing apps like Fiverr, Upwork, Toltop, Crossover and many others.
